Hello All!

is there anyway to have up to 10 zombies going at a time without massive lagggg? cause my old comp could only handle 3, so i dont know what my new comp will do.....

Is there a way to have a central body AI, and have zombies linking off it; as appose to having separate AIs, because that reduces framerate by heaps! btw, its for the kino der toten map ;)

Thanks!

Yes.

You close your eyes, think of something nice and put a little fairy dust on your head.

But seriously, no, I don't think that is possible.

what does going mean...

running around? attacking? hiding?

i ask this, just to point out to you that you're question is meaningless... zombies going... it just has no meaning in a game development context...

before you can answer your question above, you first gotta define what your zombies are gonna be doing... and how you want em to do it...

Ok, sorry bout "going". I mean my zombies just run toward you, and do whatever possible to get to you (effectively just run toward the player)

I don't think so... I'd stay safe, cuz I think even five is plenty...

Come ON Robertoo! EVERY 3 year old knows that if you want something you ASK SANTA!! And the only way
to get fairy dust is by rubbing a fairy against a grindstone, take it to Sauron...............................................

Hehehe.  ;D

But enough fun. I've though of this too, I want a massive "shoot 'em up" scene in my game.
You might be able to do this, though it won't be perfect. The zombies won't be able to collide with anything for example.
You could just take ten SkinMeshes, link them to a script and continuously set their location and orientation. You could use arrays to keep track of their health, and script some kind of EOL.

I'll see if I can set up a demo. Not sure it's gonna work.

I pretty much did it.  :D

This project has 10 fully scripted zombies, no physics, just mindlessly follow the player.

It looks good! :)
I would think you should have some kind of eventonproximity or something that makes the zombie not walk into walls, as in walk around or stop in front of them. But this is just my idea that I'm putting out.

Since every single move of the zombies is scripted, that will be very hard to make.

I'll try it sometime.

Out of interest you could imposter both the skinmeshs and rigidbodies. Though this would make life quite complicated in the scripting department. Also i'm not sure if animation could work on an imposter. Not sure haven't tried.

No, you can't imposter animated meshes.

wow really? if you could you could have a forest with moving trees ;D. Anyways, do you have a lil script you could share for the large amount of zombies?
