Looking good Dart.
How many polygons is the one in the picture? ..and what does it look like if you increase the polygons?

I'm also making some progress.. Just making a few touchups on the hood, and then I'm moving on to the rest of the design..

the one in the picture was 2300 polygons, it would look a little better if there were more, but kinda pushing the limits for a game model there.

that looks pretty good. gonna have some destruction in this?

here's a quick go at making a simple treaded tire

Currently using 7.22

Yes, I figured I would start with the car body, then make the frame underneath, later animating the different pieces to be destructible.

That can't really be 2300 polygons.. There must be some polygons focused in an unnoticeable area.
Could you upload both high and low poly versions in .3ds format so I can take a look at them?

it probably was smoothing extra parts that werent needed. i just gave it a quick subdivide/smooth, tessellated it, and checked the count
the low poly version is 277 polygons, but it's also not triangulated

Currently using 7.22

Hmm.. Doesn't look bad.. we'll go with the higher poly version then..

here's another one from just messing around, 905 polygons not triangulated (double for triangulated)

Currently using 7.22

These might not be detailed enough for your project, click to enlarge: http://www.3dautosports.com/rfactor_ffr/parts_02.jpg

:o What do you mean? Those are very detailed! :)

Any chance I could use them in this project?

Also: More updates on the car..

450-700 polygons w/ max 256x256
Sorry, I meant a bit high. They use 2 textures, one for each rim type, but they all use the same tire texture. They all work at 256x256, but the poly count might be too high. Each wheel is 1200+. Pick a wheel set and I will send it to you. Something to test to get stated with.

I like the 8th one down.
That's very generous. Thanks Mic! :)

Would you be able to include one of the suspension sets too? I might modify it since it needs air hydraulics later on, but they might just fit this car.

GLID3R80:
Thanks! I've looked at hundreds of concept cars for inspiration. I just kind of go freestyle adding different features I like on other cars. :)

Last update for today.. I'm taking my time, and it's paying off by making the gloss & reflections look a bit nicer.. Right now it's at 4494 polygons.
