Nice work , slick design and nice mesh (modelling).

Although its hard for me to picture the actual scale of the car as it seems a bit " RC " like .. but I am sure when its placed in the track and all eyecandy are on . it will be pretty clear .

Creating normal maps for the wheels might add much more detail. Because they are such a large part of the final mesh, you might want to look into creative ways to making a 1500 mesh look like 10,000. :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=66ulKGSkJVo

what are you refering to with "ambient occlusion"?

normal maps looks awesome, hard to tell the diference with high poly models actually !!

In short, Ambient Occlusion is the dark areas in the nooks and cranies of the model, scene etc. It gives it a touch of soft shadowing that helps blend it in nicely. Before I started using Maya a couple of years back, I ; had no clue that it existed.....Love Ambient occlusion , it is your friend!! lol. ;D
