I dont know, har far are you with 3D modeling, but basic thing to make model nice, is to keep, how to use smooth shaded and flat shaded surface. second thing is, how can it display some game engine. this can be different game by game.
3Drad use something like (texture)shader library for skinmesh objects. this way you can use only one shader for whole object, by default. to make some parts shiny and some not shiny, for example, then must be made these parts as separate mesh. or you can fix it with normal maps (except bumpmapping can be used it here for specular maps), for grayscale texture - light (bright) color area = more shiny, dark color = less shiny). or with custom shaders, linked with some script, as far as I know.

bad combination of this aspects can take the visual model to hell.

so, that was comment to your plane model  ;)

to the silver fish: I think, if some project skinmesh is missing, then is replaced with default fish. but it should be yellow fish  :)

I thought that you are using GoogeSketchup modeller.
I think, you should focus to one thing, and if you can then do this thing good and you can understand it, you can process in next step.

I see here at forum, how many project threads you announced and then buried with short time, how many questions about "how-to", "help-me" you launched.

you should
1) learn how-to create model / textures with your modeller software
2) learn how-to import it to 3Drad
3) learn how-to use and edit things with DEAFULT 3Drad demo projects
4) learn how-to use feautures (scripts), what have done for you thread members. tell me, how can you process with your project, if you can not link so easy script to object, like
imposters are, for example?

i found a plane model in one 3d model website for free, anmd wanted to animate it(replacing the 747) cause the 747 doesnt show any details like bump map and realistic textures(doesnt look so real)... so then i wanted to animate the new plane and replace the current 747... its an airbus a330 and i want it to open in gmax... but i also founded a a321 and loaded trhe file in gmaxa dn wanted to animate it but then i have no i dea how to...

the reason i jumped to so many projects is to see which one is interesting and catchy, i through this one is not but wantef to post anyway to see the classic queen of the skies fly!

so, you are not a modeller? or the 747 is your job made with GoogleSketchup?
if you can make models, you should be able map the object with textures also. to improve textures (make it more realistic) you must know something about 2D painting, sizes, formats...

btw, freeware gMax is not 3DS Max, it have not so many import / export plugins. I am affraid, it is wrong way for you, now.

if it must be: learn first, how to do SIMPLE animation yourself, take a look on the default "SkinMeshFrameAnimationDemo.3dr", look the parrent skinmesh object properities and its folder. use some yuor simple keyframe animation for your own objetc. short say, one part of move = one X object.

forget any bombastic vision of a queen in the skies fly, for now, yet.
you must understand first, how soft things works... try to feel the gladness of small things  8)
