Author Topic: Damageable car: crumpling and loosable body panels  (Read 10787 times)

« on: December 21, 2009, 11:35:58 AM »
i thought you guys would like to see this. i got aMitsubishi Evolution X off the 3d warehouse on sketchup and seperated it into bumpers, hood, trunk, front wings and side skirts. the parts dont react when they are hit softly, but when they are hit harder, they crumple. if the are hit realy hard, they come off. to run it, extract the folder in the .zip file to desktop or documents or wherever you want. then, go inside and run "EvoDamge.exe". it takes a while to load, so find some means of amusement while it loads. if ou try it out, tell me what you think. I hope you think its good.  ;D

Looks great, and as3DSimulant said. Shows what google sketchup can do.

I once saw someone say that Sketchup wasnt made for modeling (wonder what it was made for then?) You just proved them wrong :)

correct me if i am wrong .. but a sketchup model in the warehouse doesn't always mean it was created in sketchup.

You can simply import a 3ds file inside sketchup .. and share it in the warehouse .

Anyways I use sketchup almost daily at work ( Architecture stuff ) and its really stupid to try and model stuff like that in it . it wasnt created for these and it will take more time to model these types of things instead of other 3d modeleres.

nice work Roocar :)

very well done. Hope I will learn how to do this to on my computer. The crushing of the body panels is drastic. Hope this won't happen in reality.
