Hey guys!

Ive been working on a game with a few people,
Me - Programming & model + spriting
Roberto - Programming support
Redfox - models
joseuz - textures

if you have not heard of the weeping angels, or do not know much about
them, I urge you to watch this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GFKa9tQqzrs
or maybe even the whole episode, it helps to enjoy the experience,
heres a trailer for the game: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0opZ93DnYbw
(sorry for the bad quality, Im going to remake the trailer)

for a while now, and I think I have something playable to show.

I present to you, A Stone Heart : Carnival

(Basically building on what I learned about what people
thought about dark suits)
Featuring:
*Sprint
     -cam wobbling during sprint
*accurate look detection (courtesy of roberto ;) thanks!)
*two weeping angel model
*objective orientated game
*spooky atmosphere

Here are a few screenshots if you're interested:
Im not going to spoil it for you, so I have not posted many screenshots
or given away the enemy too much ;) ;D
WITH GRAPHICS PATCH:

Heres an angel screenshot (with patch)

WITHOUT GRAPHICS PATCH:

[PLEASE NOTE: THE FONT HAS BEEN CHANGED TO A MORE READABLE ONE XD]

Objective: You have to collect a key to the gate you arrived in by, then if you get
the key, and arrive back at the gate, you find it is stuck, so you have to find a screwdriver
to "unstick" the gate, and you are able to escape, more levels & objectives coming

Looks like a nice game, gonna try it, from what i gather after you see the angels they start coming at you when you look away from them, so you have to keep them in sight and move away, am i right?

Nice concept :D

yeah, thats right, I forgot to mention:
The first angel comes from diagonal left from where you are looking
at the start, the second one is activated once you get the key.

Controls:
WASD move
SHIFT toggle run
WALK OVER OBJECTS to collect them
LMB toggle flashlight

Have fun!

EDIT: Okay, to avoid any confusion, this is a reply to 'Sounds of the night 2', not about the game of this topic.

Well Second, you have my compliments!  ;D
Very well done!
I tried to play, but I just couldn't.  :P I'm not a horror person, so I asked my brothers to try it, then ended up running away...

The concept and ambience is great, a dying torch, creepy music, random screams in the distance, the 'BAM!!!' sound when the thing appears, nicely done.

Of course, the criticisms:

The maze SkinMesh has a poor topology, the lighting is a little messed up.
Same for the RigidBody, this caused the common 'sticky walls' issue.
EDIT: The file size is very big for a small 3D Rad game, so I took a look, and I noticed that the two music files are 75% of the entire size. Try converting them to .ogg files. It literately reduces the file size to a tenth.

And some things I'm just wondering, when does the thing appear? And what is the thing? Can it harm me? What happens when my torch dies? The video involved staring at the thing, is that something in this game too?

These are things (I think) the player should learn during the game.

But on overall, awesome!  ;D

Wait... I think I just played the wrong game!  ;D
EDIT: Yeah, I played Sounds of the Night instead. My bad.
I played one in a maze, not out in the open.

Please put up a direct link in the opening topic, don't force us to find our path through your site.

Ahaha Ok will do next time ;D
I'll fix that up  ;)
If you get a spare moment try out a stone heart (weeping angels one)  ;)

Sounds of the night:
Thanks for the feedback for sounds of the night!
Not really sure how to fix those issues, as I'm a beginner modeler, but definitely a priority.
For sure, in the next version, I will change them to ogg.
Its actually a test game, as of now at least, that's why I haven't released it here yet, but I got a monster working for it, just trying to think up a new map to make up, suggestions are much appreciated :)

This post is referring to 'A Stone Heart'

To start off, nice name. Very fitting.

Loading screen and music is nice.

But... I couldn't really play it. After walking a bit the 'you died' screen suddenly appeared. I had no idea what I did. And I couldn't just restart, the game shut it self down. I tried it again a few times, the exact same thing happened.

The game looks good, decent modelling, scary atmosphere.

And again, quite a file size, use .ogg instead. Something in particular, the loading music is 25 mb and last 4,5 minutes. The game doesn't take that long to load at all, so you'd be better off reducing it to 30 seconds. That should suffice.

I took the liberty to check out your models. The trees are 4,500 polys each, that's a lot for a tree.
I couldn't open the main map in fragMOTION, 'vetrex limit of 69 000 exceeded'. I couldn't see the polycount, but I can tell you it is way to much.

And one last question, could have expected this, where did you get the angel?

Thanks!

Yeah, the music is actually from doctor who, its called 'time of angels' if you're interested, just thought the doctor who fans would appreciate it ;D

Yeah, the angel starts from the top left relative to the players position, and you obviously turned your back on it, you have to be constantly looking around you to make sure the angel doesnt get too close xD. Yeah, this is still in beta, so there will be a respawn screen, just its still in beta, and so many linkages for a respawn ;D .

The modelling was done by redfox and joseuz, big thanks to them :D

I will reduce the file size with oggs, will most probably reduce loading time as well.

Yeah, its a pretty decent poly size, maybe a bit oversize, but they are very nice tree models, made in tree[d]
by josez a while ago.

Ok, yes I know, I got it off the net, as it turns out theres a mod for garry's mod, so as a beta, I decompiled that model :/, will add credit for that in the first post, as I was excited to post it, I completely forgot about it ;D.

Thanks for the feedback, as this is only beta, there are things that do need to be worked on :)

Yeah, I figured after watching the YouTube video.
I think you should add a minimum distance, otherwise the player won't know what he did wrong.
