I've been meaning to put some stuff up on here about Wings 3D for a while now.
First, if you haven't, download Wings from http://www.wings3d.com/ .
(Optional) Once you first run Wings, depending on your personal preference, I usually change the theme and then organize the windows a bit. Here's how mine is set up:
To start off, you may want to play with the features a bit and see what they all do. You can also go to the Wings3D youtube channel and see what certain features do http://www.youtube.com/user/wings3dchannel/featured
I currently have a video of how I usually start my car models. The video is about 17 minutes long with some trial and error on making the car look decent.
http://youtu.be/JgPAmlXBaPM
This car being the result of the video:
Virtual Mirror: One of the key things that make car modeling easy in wings. It's basically a mirror of the model that you can interact with. Whatever you do on one side, is mirrored to the other.
One thing to get used to is using keyboard shortcuts. It's not required, but will save a lot of time. Look through the functions and notice on the right side some will have keys on them. Those are the shortcuts for the function. also when hovering your mouse over functions, at the bottom of the screen it says what happens if you click, right click, or mouse wheel click the function.
