Hello guys and gals,
This has been done a few times in different ways - and here's another example for you to play with and change and generally have a bit of fun with.
In here there is a simple hover vehicle made of simple rigid bodies and joints.
We also have a series of forces and an airfoil to enable the vehicle to 'hover' at a set height (it rises slightly at the moment but you can play with the forces yourselves...)
Control the forward and rotational movement of the vehicle with the arrow keys.
Height can be adjusted with A (up), and Z (down).
There is also an event on contact that disables the joints and allows the vehicle to 'blow up' (Fall apart really - but more clever force use could achieve different results... )
I'm sure it's not the simplest method - nor is it a great example. Just something I'd finished playing with and thought I'd share.
.3dr file, 3DRad_res file to merge, and the sketchup file with the model for you to do as you wish with.
If it doesn't work, or I've forgotten to include anything, just let me know.
