Author Topic: Day/Night Transition Plugin  (Read 1973 times)

« on: May 13, 2012, 01:09:44 PM »
this is a code plugin that you can either merge or use as a starting point for your outdoor based 3DRAD game projects...

requirement:
tested in 3DRAD version 7.22
requires Clandestine's Sky5X resources http://www.3drad.com/forum/index.php?topic=640.0

installation:
just download the attached .3dr file and copy  to your 3DRAD projects folder...

usage:
run 3DRAD and load the project into the editor to start a new game project (be careful to rename the project immediately and save the new project to avoid overwriting) , or merge the code with your existing project...

read the comment section at the top of the daynight script...

it's easy to use and tailor to your needs... have fun!

caveats:
some may find the sunrise and sunset  a lil off... it's typically a winter sky in the northeast US, with the sun rising a lil late and setting a lil early... but overall it gets the job done...

yeah... the sudden pop into day/night could be made better if i use my own skybox... might return to this one day if i really have a need for it...

someone else did a very nice day/night transition with a more gradual transition... gotta search it out..

Could you make it switch to a sunset background, and then the night one?

you could do that by getting your own sunset skybox and changing the script a lil bit.....
we have a lot of sunste skyboxes available in sky 5x....check it out....
