I like the concept of it and it looks good so far, it interacts well on the curbs too. I find the controls well laid out. Frame rate was good, nice and smooth.
Doyou by any chance remember Hard Drivin' the old arcade game? it could turn into an update of this pretty well.
I hope you continue to work on it ;D

On the downside I didn't like the handling (although I've always been rubbish on 3rd person views so it could just be me ::)) but that is easily sorted, and obviously I would like a 1st person view as has been mentioned before

I agree about the starting off in 5th comment from Robertoo, a stall script and starter button could be good (again back to Hard Drivin')

To address Leonopteryx's comment, real cars most definitely do, without a doubt, bounce on the rev limiter, don't change that!

I could just start driving in 5th gear. You'll need some more scripting on this, something like this:
if (gear == 5 && CarSpeed <  20) Acceleration = 0,2;
if (gear == 5 && CarSpeed >= 20) Acceleration = 1;

Thanx, I'll  do that.  ;)

Shouldn't the lights go on and off automatically too?

Eh, what lights?  ;D BTW the blinkers are A for left and S for right and if you meant those, they should not be automatic when turning no.

And the sound goes crazy when you reach the top speed of a gear.

The bouncing at max rpm was intended:)

But I think, when the rpm drops, it sounds kinda like a piano ;D

Sorry, I dont, but I'm "only" 18 though, so thats my excuse  :D

Actually, thats what I wanted to avoid after looking at a script by chebob69, but thats easy  to fix.

For the handling, I gonna use the pcar from now on, which should make it better.

You missed out on the golden age of gaming then lol
Should be some vids of hard drivin' on youtube, it was the first driving simulator arcade game, had a proper gearstick and a clutch on the cabinet. It looks poor now but was a similar concept to what you're doing but with a jump and loop the loop on the track simulated with realistic physics. Well beyond its time, 3d graphics, force feedback steering, instant replays all in 1988. Sorry for going on about it but I got all nostalgic

Hard driving was sooo awesome... I loved that game. 50 cents per play, didn't care!

I drove the program, for me the car is way too tight and twitchy. It needs some wheel slip and some spring movement. Also, its hard to make a sim like game, when the target user is using a keyboard.

Question, have you played the 3D Rad 4x4 Grinder demo?

@ cypermethrin
LOL - Sorry - I don't know about american cars and how they are manipulated to help people stay within the speed limit.
I have a Porsche 911 Carrera 4S Cabrio - if it would bounce back at 295 km/h on a German Autobahn I'd give it back to the dealer.
Believe me, there is not 1 RPM "bouncing back" as you call it. And I never had a car with such behaviour before. Not the Renault Alpine 310 - not the BMW 750 - not the Mercedes 350 to mention a few! And the Nissan Patrol (coming back to car brand of this topic) I once had neither.

So - if this is scripting at its best, to simulate american cars, it's ok.  ;)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rev_limiter

Rev limiter's have been around since the 70's and are fitted to MOST (not all) internal combustion engine cars as standard. This is worldwide.

These are what cause the bouncing back from the redline.

If you load up YouTube you can find many different video's of plenty of exotic cars being taken to the max and the rev limiter at work.  ;)

@Sondre S - Visually you have a nice feel here, a bit sparse in the environment, but looks really good.

I too found the handling to be very poor - you've worked very hard on the manual gearbox, but it seems other areas have been neglected a bit.

Still - this is only feedback so far. Keep at it mate.   8)

Thats true.

I tried but the loading kinda
froze at the end...

Hey, I am talking about a bouncing down and up of 1000 RPM - if anyone thinks that's normal and you all have cars like that, I have nothing more to say.
Anyway, seems that some of you know driving only from the backseat of Mom's car. LOL  ;D

The cars I've driven are,
1998 BMW e36 318i (4 door)
2009 Audi A3 Sportsback (got my driver's licence in this car)
2010 VW Golf TDI 4 motion, I havent taken any of them to the redline tough  ;)

I actually got the Idea from other racing games. I dont want a disussion about this. So stop posting about it!

Hhhmm - which is it Leonopteryx?

If the motor has reached the maximum RPM in each gear it should keep it (real cars do it),

So not bounce at all yes?

Believe me, there is not 1 RPM "bouncing back" as you call it. And I never had a car with such behaviour before.

Yep - so you are talking about 0 bouncing from the redline being standard on all cars

Oh - so now it's about the amount of bounce back and not the fact that it's present?  ???

Still at least you were able to dignify yourself with a wry insult - the cornerstone of any successful internet discussion. Well done.  ::)

Welcome to the forum Leonopteryx - I'm sure I'll look forward to seeing what projects you come up with while using this cool game engine.

@Sondre S. Just trying to clarify the feedback you are getting so that you can improve your game. In my opinion - while there are still a lot of issues with what you have made so far, I agree with cypermethrin and yourself that the rev counter bouncing at max rev's is something that should stay included.  8)
