Author Topic: Upgraded Vid Card- Worse Frame Rate  (Read 622 times)

« on: April 20, 2012, 02:07:33 PM »
Hi there,
I had a Quadro FX1500 and 3400 for building 3D and testing models.
I would normally get decent frame rate in the 3drad building app and then slightly better when compiling stand alone game.
I upgraded to a FERMI GTX430 which is very fast and plenty of resources for most modern games.
I get slightly better performance inside 3drad building program for large levels, but when I compile to a stand-alone game, the frame rate is worse.
The frame rate does improve as I shrink a large level, but still wondering why performance is worse outside program than in program?

Also, with new vid card, Maximized is the only thing working right.
Full screen loads, goes black and bounces back to windows.
Windowed/reduced graphics work but wont improve graphics if increasing window, and diengaging reduced graphics option doesnt change this.

Core2 Duo, 4 gig/ram FERMI430, level tested is less than 1gig loaded memory.

Any help much appreciated!

did you get the latest video drivers... sometimes that helps...

Hi Mike,
Yes.
Ive updated to the latest drivers and final version of DirectX.

I tried removing video playback drivers as well, as sometimes this can affect 3drendering apps- but 3drad doesnt seem to have any of those issues.

It is always weird when an 'upgrade' reduces performance on something when it does so much better on others! :-)
