« on: August 22, 2011, 02:21:46 AM »
Hi this new addon has a large city, 12 vehicles, eight sets of traffic lights and freeway. All components are customizable and can be added or remover without much knowledge of scripting. Comes with path editor, cars and trucks, city also includes, merg. files of traffic lights, cars and instructions. You don't have to do anything it can be used as is.

Check out the YouTube video.

That looks great n-iron.

Really nice.

As above, will this be a free addon or will there be a cost?

Something i'd love to use in an upcoming project, that of course you would be given credit for.

Can I flip it? The cars are on the wrong side of the road for me.  ;D

Looks really good though! Keep up the good work.

verrry nice... one of the best traffic scenes i've scene done in RAD...

question...

do traffic lights in the UK (or wherever) go from red to yrlloe to green, or do they go from red to green as here in the US... in the video i noticed when you were waiting for a green light, it turned from red to yellow, then green...

This is 3D RAD Road And Traffic Safety (RATS) code system. In Australia this system was employed until about 15 years ago. The reason for change was when the light went from orange to green every body would jump the lights and others going the other way would not use the caution to prepare to stop so many collisions. You will see this happen in City Traffic as well. The reason is its simpler.

The code in this is very simple so 3D RAD can handle as many cars and light as possible. Using the Global String I have been able to make the car and Traffic light scripts almost autonomous the only thing you have to do on the car is change 1 object reference and the lights 1 ID number. I sure a non coder could handle this.

The other thing I forgot to mention I have been using 3D RAD 7.21

In the UK, normal junction traffic light sequence is -

Red
Red + Yellow (get ready to go)
Green
Yellow
Red

On pedestrian crossings, the sequence is -

Red
Flashing Yellow
Green
Yellow
Red

Why can't it be FREE like 3D RAD? That's like giving a kid an empty ice cream cone, but he has to pay for the ice cream. Or giving away a potato-peeler, but you have to buy the blade. Or like giving away a free chance to buy VIRUS_INSTALLER.exe. Or like giving a kid an empty ice cream cone, but he has to pay for the ice cream. Did I say that already? Oops. I'll just go find a different program that is REALLY free.
I shall seek revenge, Daniel Cremers!
EDIT: sorry, something ''happened'' and someone ELSE did this, sorry about the trouble...
jestermon, reconsider what you said about banning me, because that is just wrong, considering the circumstances.

n_iron would in this instance be a third party developer. If he wants to profit from his long and hard work, it is his choice and a commendable one at that. He is not the 3DRAD developer and has no control over the cost of 3DRAD.

So your rant is nearly the equivalent of "OMG! I just one a free Big Mac from the Monopoly game! I don't understand how those pretentious jerks can tease me with a free sandwich and not give me an entire franchise!"

Ok, slightly extreme, but only to illustrate a point.

I would say that 3DRad is your ice cream/cone.

This here (an addon) is more like the cherry or sprinkles on top of your ice cream. This is something you can make on your own - therefore, if you don't want to pay for it you don't have to. It's not like this is required for the use of 3DRad.

I really don't understand your analogies... because sadly they don't seem to work. 3DRad IS free. Another reason an addon is an addon. You ADD it ON to your project. With an addon your basically are taking someones work (with their permission). Since their doing work for you, they can make you pay them if they want. It's their property and they can do what they want with it.

@n_iron - Sounding great! Efficient, easy to use, and customizable if I read correctly. Do you have any estimated costs yet?

X you will find in life that anything worth its salt is not free. And another thing Im not sure if it won't work with any free versions.

Mate what I can't understand is when people will pay hundreds of dollars for a telephone that you push icons across the screen and it does not much else than other phones yet won't pay $5 for a really good program for their hobby or may be career.

I invite you X to make a Free City traffic addon so others can benefit from hours of your time and years of accumulated knowledge.

Thanks 3Dsim... and deebee It will possibly $5 I am still finalizing some details and not sure how to distribute it.
