Is it possible to have 100 different types of enemies in a game using rad?

I heard there was an object limit of around 80 or so unique objects, so I'm not sure what can and can't work with 3D Rad. Is there a faq with info on issues like this?

Well if you basically mean,100 enemies using about 4 objects each,or something like that then I don't think so.I may be wrong, but that would be a lot of objects!Although using imposters might be a possibility. ???

That's just my part.

It's not possible to imposter an enemy, because you can't imposter a character.

what I mean is having a variety of 100 different animated objects that can atleast walk, BUT- with only about 5 or so of these appearing at a time, and it uses scripts to control their appearance and behavior.

I heard 3D rad can only handle 80 or so objects being used, and I'm wondering if that means my object list can only be up to 80 in the editor, or does this mean only up to 80 objects can be active in the game at a time, out of possibly 100's of objects listed in the game editor object list?

Well, I would just test this first.

Try adding andro skinmeshes and just keep count of them.

I'm sure you could have 100 - 200 in there no problem.. (I might be wrong)

Once you have the variety, you are free to imposter them as much as you want.

There may be more steep limitations to bone animated ones too.. I'm not sure.

But the script is your best bet to accomplish something like that.

I'm also not sure what the best way to bone animate my models are. I've done animation with mesh switching with sketchup meshes, but I don't know how I can give bone animations to meshes made with sketchup.

I'm pretty bad at bone animating,

But check this out...

250 andro skinmeshes running at a beautiful 60 fps on my machine (these are not imposters)

I'm sure I could keep adding more, but there you go, even with complex animations, you can still use a lot of characters.

Another big thing is controlling them. That will take out a small chunk of performance, but you can make them collide with imposter spheres, so that shouldn't be a big issue.

The next test would be hooking them to a script and checking if the script even responds...

If this works, then you know your in good shape.

Someone should reskin Andro to look like an NS-5  ;D

By the way. does Andro have any other anims or does he only walk?

"This town is infested with Killer Cockroaches!"

You have 3 options: Good, Fast, and Cheap. Pick TWO.

Does anyone know how bone animations are made? I use google sketchup for my models, and I don't know how to go about adding bone animations to them. Well, now I'm sure I can atleast use as many as I'd ever want to, though.

Sketchup doesn't have any animation tools.  Try a piece of software like fragmotion, lightwave, gmax/3dsmax, and try to learn that way.

I would recommend FragMOTION. It works great for me. I make all my animations with this programme.

Does fragmotion cost money? I went to the site, and it has a $50 registration for it...?
