Author Topic: "player name" string in net functions ?  (Read 399 times)

« on: May 04, 2011, 01:29:33 AM »
Whats the purpose of a "player name" string in the NetClientStart & iNetServerStart net functions ?.

did i miss something in the documentation or a process that we can use to access these in-game ?.

Maybe these are used internally only by the network ?.

What i was thinking was to use this string as the local machine's in-game player name that could be extracted and used in-game.

I know about global variables.. just wondering what the purpose of, & possible use is, for the "player name" string.

The player name isn't currently used. The ability to specify it was included to the function call so it can be used in the future, without having to change the function (which would cause backward compatibility problems).

Enabling this for 3D Rad script is relatively easy and the estimated cost is $30. I will add an entry to the board as soon as I can confirm the estimate.

Thanx for posting TinSoldier!
