Author Topic: "How to" export x files using Gmax  (Read 32920 times)

« Reply #15 on: October 23, 2009, 08:41:31 AM »
i still cant get any textures on my exported model. Do i have to do something special in gmax (for example group everything together)?
The exporter doesn't even export a picture file with the .x file.
I tried to copy the picture in 3d rad ressource folder but even this doesn't make a difference.

if the gmax file would help you I'll upload it.

Code: [Select]
DiffuseTextureFileName  {    "noname.bmp";  } AmbientTextureFileName  {    "dragonmap2.bmp";
From what I can gather looking at the source data of the x file is the texture is not applied correctly. But I could be wrong. I will test exporting a model with texture this weekend.

i replaced the "nonmap.bmp" with the original texture name early but it does't effact anything. I think i uploaded the wrong bmp map, original it should be named dragonmap1.bmp (like in the source code)

Superfast .x export installation.
Save the hassle of configuring the plugins.

Installing
---------
1. DL gmax at TurboSquid
2. Install/register
3. Unrar http://dl.dropbox.com/u/11319604/gmax/gmax_x_plugins.rar into the plugins folder

Exporting
---------
4. File->Export, Save as MDL (FlightSim Aircraft Object), click Save, Click GO!!

EDIT: link changed : http://dl.dropbox.com/u/11319604/gmax/gmax_x_plugins.rar

Open the .X file with your note pad. Look for "DiffuseTextureFileName". Make sure the image it is pointing to is the same name as your texture.

Hi all,
I've .obj sequence generated by a 3D tool which can't export single animated .x file. Is there any tool available for getting a single animated .x file from the .obj sequence?

Thanks in advance.
