Shad: yes, the clouds are mesh imposters (emissive billboards)... the sky background makes em look a lil better in the pic than what they actually look like... not as full featured looking as the ones in your infinite terrain flight demo...  i still got a lil to do with em... i think i'll add some particle clouds and see what a mix of billboards and particles look like... and how the performance is affected...

plus, there's the zfighting issue (clouds and trees) i've got to add the code to resolve...

but, the ils approach system works... i whipped that up in a day  and was surprised that it actually worked...

You could test the 0025_user_vegetation shader, it does alphatests for transparent texture so you don't need to care for the z-fighting issue. I know it's not emissive, but then I could have an excuse to add emissive feature to it :)
