GOOD NEWS EVERYONE!!!
So I just got home and started testing running 3d Rad in Linux under Wine (Ver. 1.0.0-1ubuntu4~hardy1).
What was tested: Installing and running BeltBall v102 in windowed mode in integrated desktop environment (Not emulated desktop).
What was not tested: Full-screen run mode, non-XP-mode windows environment, simultaneous compositing window management.
What worked: Almost everything. Window decoration worked well (Using Metacity on Gnome 2.22.3). Framerate was not recorded, but very playable even when it started to chug. Perhaps try to smooth it out a little? Sound did indeed work also. Yay!
What did not work: Trying to select full screen, there was no color depth selectable. Upon exit, the program did not close and had to be sigterm'd (I successfully Ctrl-C'd in the running terminal). The last one could be overcome with a bash wrapper, I don't find it a deal-breaker.
Other notes: I was running via console at the time, so I noticed alot of DirectX 9 compatibility problems, also some stubs in the OLE and some complaints about shaders not being fully implemented. These did not seem too serious in-game, and I did not notice anything amiss.
All in all, I would say this test was very successful. Someone should also try this, and should also try the Editor under Linux.
