just had a chance to look at the latest demo...

this one runs smoothly on my old setup here...

you've done a first rate job on the graphics and giving the impression sailing... the sail moving with the winds looks about as realistic as one would expect at this level... and the rocking and swaying of the boat makes it feel like you're actually sailing in a boat...  good job...

nice view options... do you plan an external view, or a fly past view...

this would make a great multiplayer game...

looking forward to seeing more...

When you say 'external view', do you just mean a third person camera? Because we already have that (just zoom out with the mouse scroll-wheel if you haven't already).

As for a fly past view, that's a definite possibility. I might try and script that in before the next demo  :).

Yea. I'd love to make a multiplayer naval combat game, but I don't think my 3dRad ability would let me tackle that just yet! Maybe oneday...

I have not tried it yet but visually it is looking great...
I have a ques that
is it just the wind that is pushing the ship forward or there are any forces acting on it?

NOTES:

There is wind in the demo. Its speed is constant, but its direction changes gradually over time. The white arrow in the HUD surrounded by the red area shows which direction the wind is coming from.

You can't sail directly into the wind, or too close to the wind, if the ship is pointed into the red area (marked in the HUD) the sails will fall flat. However, this doesn't prevent you from tacking through the wind.

I'm not quite sure what you mean, sourav. Are you asking whether I use the 3d rad wind object? because I don't.

The ship is moved by force objects. The force object that pulls the ship forward always faces the direction in which the ship is pointing. However, the force intensity of that object is determined (in part) by the direction in which the ship is pointing, relative to the wind direction.

I hope that answers your question  :)

yes... ahhhhhh, ok...  i see the external view now  :D   thx...

as for the fly past view... don't let that idea distract you guys from the plan you already have in place right now... it was just a thought... something that could be added later if you still deem it something that would benefit the game...

georgio123,this very nice work! But how you create radar in your first post(the red zone)?

I'm loving it!

Runs smoothly on my average computer.

I'm really impressed! It looks verrrrrrry good, so dynamic!

I can't add much, most has been said already.
I'd really recommend adding some particles around the prow and the sides of the ship which hit the water.

Good job so far!  :D

It's not radar. The red zone represents the same zone as is shaded in this diagram:

it is simply made up of rotating sprites. There's a default 3dRad demo that basically explains what I am doing. It's called 'heading indicator' or something similar.
