I want to know if its possible to use black and white map to texture the areas on the terrain such that where its black grass is seen and where its white rock is seen.

another question

I have rgb texture on terrain. is it possible to change the texture according rgb. the place where is red is replaced by rock, the point where color is green is replaced by grass texture etc. if so then please provide link, information thanks.

Hi Icanseethat, I use RGB textured terrain and there is no reason why you couldn't use it to texture a house if needed.

You don't have to stick to the convention set Red - Rock, Blue - dirt and Green - grass.

Use RGB I have not seen Black and White for textures only for making height map to make a terrain.

n_iron is right. Have you downloaded the system shaders addon? That contains the terrain shader you'd be wanting to use.
