Probably not such a simple solution but, I get the jitters when I forget to uncheck Display Geometry in RigidBody dialog... - the SkinMesh and RB tend to 'fight' over which of their matching geometry gets rendered. Other than that, is it bump mapped? - maybe the normal map needs to be tweaked?
... or maybe a self-shadowing problem? -non matching shadow mesh
