Author Topic: Walk A Mile In Andro's Shoes  (Read 207 times)

« on: December 02, 2013, 02:01:16 PM »
quick question....  if using a 1 to 1 scale, based on andro being about 1.8 meters and all else scaled around that...   is it reasonable to conclude that a (statute) mile is about 1600 meters...

if so, the default terrains can be said to be about 1/3 of a mile square... a lil less, right?

using these conclusions, a 1 mile square landscape should be about 1600x1600 meters, right?

one last thing... any ideas on implementing streaming terrain... do you think it's practical, and if so, i'd like to hear any ideas on how'd you approach it...

thx

Don't entirely understand and sure about what you're getting at with the first part...

And what's a streaming terrain?

trying to get a consensus for a basis of representing distances in 3DRAD using the default Andro model as a basis for a 1 to 1 scaling of all object from the real world...

How intelligent is it to calculate with inches, yards, miles, furlongs, ounces, stones, hundredweights and all that stuff if you can use the metric system (which is used in 3DRad x-files and physics. And in scientific calculations of all kind mandatory) ... that's the question.

i dunno what tv channel you're watching Leon... but the question was "is using real world scaling and measurements, on a 1 to 1 basis, practical in 3d rad games"...
