Author Topic: Helicopter Prototype  (Read 522 times)

« on: October 18, 2013, 10:17:36 AM »
something i whipped up last night...  i always wanted to try a helicopter in RAD...

this first attempt, based on the default airplane, is fully controllable, almost like a real chopper... collective for up/down... can hover and bank to one side or the other... and can accelerate forward...

forces for lift, bank and a turn assist along with  script logic to integrate the forces and provide smooth power changes  are the only additions...

That is spiffy!  It looks to act just like a helicopter, well done.

I'm really liking this helicopter concept.  I have a question though.  I assume you used a sound source to make the sound for the blades, but when I use a sound source (even when I max out the volume in my editor(s)), it is still very quiet.  I almost have to be right on top of my [vehicle] inorder to hear it.  Is there a way to increase the range of the sound source or do I just have to make the camera closer (or the model bigger)?  Great work.

The spund source "volume" is the range. So 1 is 1m 2 is 2m etc.
