I have L3DT and google sketchup 8 and fragmotion. Well: If I make terrain in L3DT, how can I export that terrain and its texture to 3d rad with these two programs. I tried, but I dont know what map I need to save and in what format I need to save it. And in what program I can open it.

Thanks for answers.

Now this is getting annoying. After sending me a lot of private messages, which I answered, you still don't know what to do?

In L3DT, click export -> .obj.
Open it in fragMOTION, export -> .x

Please a little more specific. What is not working?

No need for the fragmotion step Roberto - L3DT will export as an optimised .x mesh natively nowadays.

Export optimised mesh .x format from L3DT,
Use Radimp to put in Rad.

Job done.

well, I have trial fragmotion, and when I export as obj(wavefront), and I try to open in fragmotion, simply there is no file, fragmotion can read file. And that is my problem, and please Robertoo, Iam not so stupid, when you said me what I need to do, I tried almost all formats, but fragmotion simply dont read them.

Well, the exact same thing works flawlessly for me.

Do you get an error?

Post the .obj file, let me try.

Radimp works just fine on windows 7 ultimate.

Just what I thought.

A 50 mb file didn't seem strange to you?

Well, you're trying to to put a 700.000 faces into 3D Rad. No.

You really need to bring down the polycount. That never occurred to you?

I don't think you are lying - I just believe you don't know how to use the software.

I say this with a fair degree of certainty because:

1) I have Windows 7 Ultimate,
2) I have Radimp,
3) I have L3DT,
4) I use all 3 to make my own terrains in 3DRad with no issues.

Now - my turn to ask you:

Since you have come onto the forum asking for advice, and I have taken the time to respond to that request (not for the first time),  why do you ignore the advice and believe I am lying to you??  ::)

I understand Roberto is taking great time to help you on this - but it's just not necessary to put the extra step of Fragmotion into this.

L3DT exports to a .x file!

If you really can't use Radimp - you still don't have to use Fragmotion - just manually install the rigid body and skinmesh.

Ah, the newest version must be capable of exporting .x. Mine isn't.

Thanks for the tip Grimbarian. This is a great step forward for terrain making. I hated the extra steps to make a .x file. Now it's a breeze. The latest release is still Alpha, but it looks pretty stable.

No problem XingBat - I love it as a terrain making tool.

I tend to use the latest developmental release of L3DT (currently 13.01) - just to see any new features - but even the standard stable release from November 2011 (11.11) has .x export included in it.

The latest is MUCH faster though.

And a quick shot in rad from 2 minutes (seriously) work. As pointed - radimp put it into all the right folders for me... even though I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate...
