Hi all,
I've been trying to find the best virtual packer for 3Drad, performance/compatibility is key.
So, i've done some tests on 2 free virtual packers which are compatible with 3Drad:
- Enigma Virtual Box (free, no encryption, compression off) http://enigmaprotector.com/en/downloads.phpl
- Vishnu Packer v9.1 (free, claims encryption, default high compression) http://www.northernfoxmedia.com/?option=content&pcontent=1&task=view&id=48
I've used the same project file each time with different (fixed) CPU clock speeds:
FX-6300 @ 1.4ghz - Loading times
No Packer - 35.10
Vishnu Packer v9.1 - 33.80 (strange, your telling me)
Enigma Virtual Box - 1:11.01
FX-6300 @ 3ghz - Loading times
No Packer - 15.00
Vishnu Packer v9.1 - 16.30
Enigma Virtual Box - 34.50
I never realized Enigma was such a poor performer, it basically doubles the loading time of the project.
Vishnu is solid, quick, but, it lacks the ability to leave files outside the pack (eg: a settings file), so, having game settings wont save. I'll look for a way around this, its performance alone seems to be worth the investigation.
If anyone can link me some other free packers, i'll do the same tests.
Cheers
