You are not rude at all, just giving good advice. I just read the post, and did an automatic 'help with a suggestion' reply, without reading the topic. So 2 brownie points to you.
And the 'no need to bother anyone' was not a sting at all, it was just another 'go to google for your needs, no need to ask around' statement.
