Here is an animated tank tread I made with milkshape and converted to .x file with fragmotion. Maybe it will help.

Here is my tank demo I was working on a while back but never got time to finish.

Woah! man, this is EXACTLY what I was looking for! I'm guessing you made this in 6.45, cuz the project won't open, or it is encrypted.

Can I use this for my project (the compiled project: the Tank)? When I publish it I can give you credit.

 ;D
pleeeeease?

Sure use it as you please. As I just dabble in game making and modeling, what little I know about either is self taught or what I have learned from others like the ppl on this forum. I will upload the .3rd when time permits, but I suggest you also look at how others have made or animated models, also examine others scripts thourghly, nothing can teach better than trial and error.

Yeah, thanks. I am in the process of dissecting your tread skinmesh frame by frame and seeing what is going on.
Is milkshape easy to use? I have some birthday money to burn and I'm looking at it.

Also, for the project will I need 6.45? I have 6.44.

Thanks again. You have no idea how much this will help my game.

The project was done 6.45.
The tread was done with individual bones for each tread and moved each frame or keyframe. It is very time consuming to say the least.

Milkshape is a pretty simple modeling program. Not very robust in most areas, but its easy to animate with Milkshape. The directx exporters in milkshape suck so I use fragmotion or ultimate unwrap to convert to .x

I dint have the project in front of me and its been a while since I worked on it, but the forces where used to turn or rotate the tank, a little more realistic than just using the car steering which is nothing like a tank. The scripts used in the project were not realy my own. One if I remember correctly was one someone else posted here and the other was possible part of someone else's script.
