those cars are awesome clandestine kinda reminds me of game a few years back called auto modelista. I'm loving the Crx, are these built in sketchup ? would love to see your modelling process i can never get cars right. just realised this is completely off topic

I'm not gonna answer for clandestine here, but Probably not. However, modelling realistic looking cars in sketcup is possible, like in any other modelling program. I'm modelling in sketcup (as you can see i my previous posts, and yes I made those cars from blueprints, they are not stolen from the warehouse). Just google polygonal modelling, that's the technique I'm using. I'm only using ONE single plugin, the "Extrude face from edge tool". it's the only essential plugin you'll ever need.

Your cars do look very good, much better than my attempts Ive tried many different ways of modelling cars in sketch up but i always seem to have really bad stretched poly's. I'm going to look into polygonal modelling when i get home, ill try get that plug-in to I'm guessing its in the extension warehouse?

Thanks a lot guys!
The cars (and 95% of my modeling) are done in Silo, i've used it since version 1.4 a million years ago. Is it better than any other modeler, well yes and no... it all boils to what you're comfortable working with. In the end everything is pushing vertices around. I remember the times of MilkShape 3d... back then i modeled, unwrapped and animated all the characters (~40) for an indie action RPG with it. Crazy stuff  ;D ;D

@Sondre S: very cool model man! When you're ready, please show us how it would look ingame.

Auto Modellista was a big inspiration for me, but i couldnt make my models look as good when cell-shaded, also it would be a complete ripoff. So i went for a mix between realistic and cartoony, i used Marmoset Skyshop IBL to achieve a SEGA 'arcade' like saturated, yet semi realistic look.

Here is an early ingame shot, things will surely change a lot, but thats the general direction i want to follow.

Cheers!

Only using ONE plugin but HOLY HELL look at all the useless stuff loaded in Sketchup on your screen. Drop most of that and you will see an improvement in speed overall. I bought Sketchup Pro 8 a few years back and in conjunction with the free version of TurboCAD, 3DS Max 2009, Poser 6, Maya, Silo, Blender, and Wings I make full detail vehicles from both blueprints and quality photoshots.

The funny part is the car templates in 3DRad actually contain the names of real car brands. lol ;D So, you might want to copy one and rename it.

Thanks. Right now I'm busy modelling the remaining parts of the game(such as one last car interior, maybe just one more car(he,he) and scenery elements, remaining bodykits, and some more buildings), but yeah I'll upload a video as soon as that stuff is done  ;)

Yeah, I've seen that. 3drad is supposed to be for both commercial and non-commercial use, so yeah it's kinda funny it acually has built-in copyright infringement :D

In the conversation of changing names to avoid copyright I remember in True Crime or the mafia style Gta esk. series they had a Skyline renamed to the "Skylime" i'm surprised that they didn't get sued.

I don't know if that is a typo on the post Sondre, maybe you'll get sued and then the people sueing you will be sued for sueing you for something they copied.

Yeah I know the r34 in true crime NYC, was spot on and your right it was called Skylime, but I won't use that in the game.
