Virtual Car Showroom user car import from GoogleSketchup (part III.)

(5) export the car parts into parent Car Showroom "game" folders
to export the car parts, use from the main GoogleSketchup menu the Plugin item and select "export as generic DirectX file", search for the Car Showroom main folder, look for "3DRad_res\objects\SkinMesh\data" folder and just replace the "car_body", "car_interior", "car_windows" and "car_wheels" 000_mesh.x files.
note: if you have no regular interior mesh, for example (like atached guide-pictures shows), replace the "car_interior" 000_mesh.x file with the one from "_car_dummy_object" folder. it is global invisible mesh.

(6) now remains set the regular name for you car only. look for CarName.txt in the Showroom "game" root, open it and replace the default text with yours.
I made the "1968 Ford Mustang Fastback"...

(7) load the showroom and enjoy!  :P

I'll make a new model for this during the week but won't get to a real internet connection again till next weekend so i'll upload then. So I know what i'm doing, the model is split to windows, wheels and interior? I might try and fit my A10 aircraft model and a ufo in too for variety ;)
Looking forward to seeing your app make my models look nice ;)
As usual some good work you've done

yep, the body (smooth shader + environment map), windows (smooth shader +environment map for trasparency parts), wheel-set (user_tile shader) and interior (smooth shader).
you can divide the airplane based in this shader logic. I never saw any A10 aircraft with shiny camouflage, if I good remember, maybe any silver airshow body was made, dunno... so instead of body mesh group for the showroom you can export it as the interior or wheel-set group.

beautiful models and showroom...

has anyone added their own cars to the showroom, or has anyone looked at using this in their own games... i'd like to hear what your experience has been...

I've been off and on with a model I'm going to attempt to make work with it. Never really made a good model with any kind of interior to it.

My seats, steering wheel, dash, and overall interior may not be very good, but i'll still try.

Currently using 7.22
