Author Topic: Attempting to draw textures on a car.  (Read 1763 times)

« on: May 01, 2012, 12:20:25 PM »
This seemed to work pretty well except for a couple little parts that stretched a little. (also my lines on the doors don't line up if you look close enough)

instead of just shaping parts into the model, tried exporting a UV map and drawing over it.

I started off with this quick model I made in a few minutes

then using one of Wings's auto uv map things (by feature detection i think) and then fixing a couple parts, made an image and drew onto it.

which resulted in this

Then I exported it to 3d rad and made a normal map for it. Not as high poly as the renders above (around 1200 polygons), but still looks good

you should try to make a car like the one in nitronic rush!
The car you made is also awsome!

Thanks
Yeah, pretty much anything that I upload here is free to use.

interesting look, probably could just repaint this car black, make a glowmap, and use the glowmap shader on it.  Can't really tell the design of the car by that preview video, as most of the time all you see is the rear end.

Here's the files for this one, just extract the folder into your skinmesh's data folder, then make an index image for it. (Or you can extract it to the import folder and import it with Radimp)

Looking back at my posts, I realized that I haven't really uploaded any cars for a while, but here are some old ones that i did long ago.

kind of weird front end to it.

Kind of weird trying to match the car to that, so there are some custom twists to how it looks. front end could possibly come down a little.

Edit: slight change

Looks cool, what did you use for modeling them?

Thanks, I'll probably attempt a texture later this week on a night that I don't have much homework. No guarantees on getting this finished soon, but if I can't, I'll try to get the UV map on it so anyone that wants to can texture it.

Nice work, apply a rim envmap shader and you're ready to go :)

I actually made a anti gravity game a while back but I never had a good car, this might do the trick!
