It's very possible. I had a 2D game game I was developing in 3DRad here. Your gonna have to script though... and I'm not giving my method for free.  :)

Here's another idea, that is FREE! I got it just playing around with scaling skinmeshes. How you do it is use something 3d that is invisible, and then something that is 2d but visible. Here's a screenshot.

There are other game engines that you can use to make 2d games, like YoYo Games, Scratch and Unity. Unity is the only one I know can publish games to wherever you like on the internet in Flash. Scratch lets you publish it, but it uses the Java Plugin and you can only publish it on their website.

may i suggest learning GML? its the script engine used in GameMaker, YoYo games. I used it years ago b4 i found 3drad ;).
