Author Topic: A car ... without a car!  (Read 530 times)

Hello all! I'm trying to create a car using the sphere rigidBody as wheels and joints for attaching these spheres to another rigidBody, the car body. here's my little project, but I need help with the lateral friction...

Now this is innovative, and a great deal of fun. Nice balance of forces in use there.
I've made a small change to the joints. locking  rotation to the x axis only. I've also upped the friction by factor of 10 on the spheres, since physics 7.03 up to about 7.12 had friction problems.
You are not going to get much from lateral friction with external forces applied directly to the car body. You are may have to apply some dampening through script to do what you need.
I really love this sort of inventive toy, and it gave me some great laughs.

Saved as 7.03, since I have no idea what version you are using.

thanks a lot! I use v7.12, but I'll update in January! This inspired me to change something slightly different: I want to try using the balls as wheels, steering. I think I do it too with my little knowledge of scripting! thank you again.
