Author Topic: Skinmesh: Environment Map with bumpy shader (possible bug?)  (Read 1494 times)

« on: December 20, 2011, 06:01:31 PM »
Ok, i discovered that if you enable environment mapping on a skinmesh object, and use any of the default bumpy shaders, then the skinmesh will turn completely chrome! In other words, the envmap shader parameters do not have any effect on the skinmesh if it has normal maps enabled.

I am using 6.49.

Please tell me if any of you guys have this issue.

Environment map does that because it reflects the environment, I don't think its a bug, just use bumpy without using environment map.

you can also adjust the reflection property of the env map to tone down the level of reflection so that it doesn't look completely like tin foil...

try setting the reflection to .4 and see if that's what your looking for... it may take a lil trial and error to get the desired result...

Whenever i do that, no change is made. Even when i put all the values to 0, no change.

I tested it too there is no noticeable difference.

Yeah, I agree ... the default bumpy shaders and e-map just makes chrome. Different settings have no affect either way.

Somebody post a pic/settings of the yellow fish with default bumpy and e-map with no chrome plox(please).

I use the bumpy shaders from here> http://www.3drad.com/addons/SystemShaders1_shx.php with no chrome... plus there's a lot of other cool shaders in that pack.

yeah... use the 0015_user_bumpy_glossy_tiled shader that comes in the system shader 1 pak...

the default bumpy_glossy shader will make it look like chrome...
