Author Topic: [HELP] dll Error  (Read 1210 times)

« on: September 15, 2011, 01:47:30 PM »
Hi 3D Rad community, I downloaded 3d rad about a week ago for my video game design class. I am currently working on a racing game using Go ogle sketch up rigidbodies to use so i can get real cars in the game. I have been experiencing some major issues recently though. I am currently runing it on a computer using XP, but also have had same issues on a computer runing win 7. It worked great for a while. Now any time i try to add an object that is not in the normal default index folder (3drad/3rad_res/objects/index) i get a dll error. For example i just tried to add particle_clot and got an error.
"Particle_clot Object could not be added!
The .dll for this object is apparently missing or corrupt"
It is not just this object that does it all do. I have tried reinstalling 3D Rad with no effect. Please help.

Do you get this error from loading objects from the default C:\3D Rad\3DRad_res\objects\etc...?

Or are you trying to load objects from another location? Example: C:\My_Stuff\Objects\Particles

The second one will not work as far as I know. Or it shouldn't. Everything should be in the 3DRad_res folder and put in the proper folder.  Example: If you added a new skinmesh, you would need to make a new folder for it in the C:\3D Rad\3DRad_res\objects\SkinMesh\data folder. Then make a .jpg picture for it with the same name as the folder you created and save it to the C:\3D Rad\3DRad_res\objects\SkinMesh\data\index folder.  This should be a similar procedure for other objects.

Sorry if I didn't understand correctly.  :)

Any time i try to add anything out of the index Folder it doesn't work it gives me the error mentioned

Are you still having an issue ?.

ekfplation5 answered your question & gave the answer you need to fix it..

Any resources you add to your 3drad project need to be added into 3drad's object folders.

If your adding a rigidbody, the X data file's have to to placed into the rigidbody's data sub-folder, also an icon graphic file is needed in the ridgidbody's data/index folder so your custom rigidbody can be selected from the rigidbody objects properties box.

For sprite graphics, data sub-folder's are used for animation frames for any spite. (The file name and it's sub-folder have to have the exact same file name).

If you need more on this, read the help file's.

The problem seems to be more then that, even after i uninstalled and reinstalled 3 rad, anything i try to add out side of the objects folder will give me that error.

Ok so pretty much what happens if i try to add anything into my game/map that isnt in the 3drad/3rad_res/objects/index directory it gives me the error mentioned, and this is with all default files not just custom ones.

when you add an object, you are only supposed to add one of the default objects that are in 3drad/3rad_res/objects/index

if you want a rigidbody, you add it from 3drad/3rad_res/objects/index, and then you can open the new rigidbody's property box and click the change button if you want a different rigidbody. same concept with skinmesh, sprite, car, or anything else that's changeable.

just make sure that when you add an object that you do not leave the 3drad/3rad_res/objects/index folder

Currently using 7.22
