Author Topic: FPS zombie shooter! - Forest of the Undead [Finished]  (Read 33707 times)

« on: March 19, 2011, 05:38:03 AM »

Welcome to my topic! Forest of the Undead is a first person zombie shooter I'm creating. It's all about shooting zombies, in a forest and surviving as long as you can.

This is the story so far:
Thanks to BorekS

Of course you want the newest version of the game. You can find it at the top of this post or download it here.

Here is the history of my game so far:

Version 3.5
Forest of the Undead is now officially done! Everything is there and working. Compared to version 2.5 the game has better looking models and a lot more sounds. The loadingtime is decreased dramatically. Due to less scriptlinkings the game might be even a little easier to run.
Please download and enjoy!
Download here.

Version 3.2
This is so far the newest version. All the zombie addons are done and inside.
Download here.

Pictures are not necessary. It looks the same as the previous one.

Version 3.1
This version pretty much looks exactly like the previous one, but they aren't the same. In this version everything is scripted. Everything. The sound are much more advanced. And a dozen more thing that I don't remember.
Download here.

Pictures are not necessary. It looks the same as the previous one.

Version 3.0
Big update. There is (again) a new zombie model and now there is also a new forest with some ground fog. It looks much better and it's surprisingly much easier to run.

Intro
I made an intro video for my game. Turned out pretty good.
Watch here.
Download here.

Version 2.5
The simple version of Forest of the Undead is done! Everything is there and functional. Though I haven't stopped. There much more great things to come!
Download here. Thanks to GamesAtNight.com

Version 2.2
The almost finished version. Contains main menu, credits page and the demo.
Download here.

Version 2.1
A normal and fast zombie type with the new model. Also introducing the fire zombie.
Download here.

Version 2.0
Introducing a new zombie model. Thanks to Daniel. Also a new loading screen with a very cool loading bar. And I started using more and more scripting.
Download here

Version 1.7
No real game again. This is an introduction to a new weapon in the game: I replaced the Uzi with an AK-47.
Download here.

Trailer
I made a little trailer for Forest of the Undead.
Watch here.

Version 1.6
This is just a test project. It's no real game. This introduces the chainsaw zombie.
Download here.

Version 1.5
This one has some sort of menu. You can change the difficulty. There are also tree kinds of zombies now. Fast, slow and normal. They all have different animations, health and inflict a different amount of damage. There are some more differences, but I don't remember them all. Still no real scripting.
Download here.

Version 1.0
This is the second version I posted here on the forum. The first one wasn't much different but it wasn't 'Forest of the Undead' yet. I believe I made this version without writing my own scripts.
Download here.

Including pics helps a lot. I downloaded the project and it looks cool, though the intro does not represent the game. No buildings, bo tombstones. Nice infinitive woods you made with collision detection! If I walk far away from the start point no zomies attack anymore. If I kill a zombie, something happens with the movement system.

I see what you mean. I'm working on it. I already made that the zombie will respawn within 25 meters away from the player. And I am very proud of the woods too. The loading screen was the first thing I could find with google.

OK, here is another one, with screenshots. Sorry, the whole game posting thing is new to me. Now the rigidbody sphere from the zombie now hides when the zombie is dead, the zombie appears near the player, the zombie has endless terrain too and the loading screen is more fitting. And here are some screenshots.
I also gave the game a name, "Forest of the Undead".

Should I make something that when the distance between the zombie and the player is greater then, let's say, 100 metres?
BTW, now I have also made my own skybox, a night sky with a big moon. It looks nice.

Here is another update. This update is much bigger then the previous ones. Now my game has some sort of a main menu, three kinds of zombies (Fast, Normal and Slow, all different health and animations), blood on the screen and a changeable difficulty.

Very cool, though it might be a bit more user friendly if the zombies did not approach from the back. Also when health is 0, nothing happens (you can keep on killing zombies). There are 3 types of zombies, but they look the same. You could (for example) give one of them a chainsaw (just like your avatar). You could also add some cottage so you can get inside and kill zombies through the windows. Killing zombies needs to give you some kind of points or new weopons. Like if you kill 10, you get a shotgun, you kill 30, you get two uzi's or two shotguns and if you kill 100 you get granades and a rocket loancher!
Over all super progression and this is getting to become something nice!

Thanks for the ideas, and your right. But this was supposed to be a sort of demo of the zombies and a test for changing difficulty.
