Also, when we have PhysX support, we will also have a built-in car system which seems to behave in a way similar to the Rush3Fan's system.

AHA! "When" we have PhysX support! I like that...

Rush. Don't want to take the wind out of your sails but I can't see what all the fuss is about here.
1600MPH!?  ;D ;D Sorry, I'm just obsessed with speed. :D

...a practical solution that flips a car the right way up when it lands on its head
And yes, I have a great idea for one. (writing it down on my to do list) I'll release a plugin eventually ;D

Really, I don't think this new car is going to make it into my game unless I get some physics issues solved, -such as the wheels sinking into the surface of a ramp or sinking into any curved surface. And obviously AI is going to be a problem.

But sure, I think it would make a nice arcade style car object, but I don't think it's happening without any AI..

Or, I was just thinking; I could combine the existing car with the new car and have it feed off of the existing car object's AI...  I'll have to look into that.

But anyway, can't wait to try out the PhysX car. That's going to be awesome!

Sorry about this stupid question, but how can I put this object in my 3DRad Projects? ???
« Reply #49 on: March 30, 2010, 09:40:12 PM »
1st:
unzip the file you got

2nd:
open
C:\3D Rad\3DRad_res\projects
And put the 3dr project in there.

3rd:
If you have windows 7, or vista, merge the 3DRad_res folder with your 3DRad_res folder.
If you have windows XP, you will need to get familiar with the file system 3drad uses.

For those of you wondering, I'm going to try aim for the end of May for releasing Version 3 of the car object pluggin. Let me know if anyone want's to collaborate to make an even better version 3. I am open to requests and suggestions too.

As far as what's comming:
A new car setup based around the 3drad car object
A mergeable AI car with similar properties
Additionally if the time budget allows:
A car settings editor: allows the user to find the right settings while driving

i was wondering about version 3, TBH that list sounds great for a 3rd version.

Here's the latest car object plugin. The zip file only contains the mergable player car and ai car.
I was not able to create a settings editor, but if you want to create one, you can download the 2D sprite slider button and use it to tweak car settings while driving.

Questions? Let me know. But make sure you have 3Drad 6.46 or higher before you report any problems.

Enjoy!

Sorry man, I wish I would've built the car on a lower version of Rad, but I guess you'll have to wait a few months or donate $5.

Or no, I'll take that back. There was a special feature in version 6.46 I needed for the AI to work.

Hey, just wondering. Has anyone run into problems with the latest version?? The 3dr files would not open for me last time I checked.

Anyway, I can't wait to see how this thing handles under physX lol ;D

well Ive had this prob with all your versions. If you leave it stationary it shakes/vibrates on the spot and for too long, sinks into the terrain. :(
I'm never here and if I am I will try and say something...
Sorry tramkp888 I kind of forgot you back in July

Did the custom rigidbodies get properly installed? It's not happening over at my end. :-\
