3dRad crashes on load when I try the .3dr
I tried to debug and 3dRad panics when the mesh is to be loaded.

it was made with 6.42 so not sure if that makes any difference project wise.

fxTexture folder should be in the 3D Rad\\3DRad_res\\* location, you will not see any textures if it can't find the folder.

it works fine on my end. if you think there is a problem with the x file just make a quad covering all the uv space and try that, but I don't think there is anything wrong with the mesh though dxviewer loads it no problem and it's fine in rad on my end.
shadmar maybe you should use winrar to unzip it ;D.

I myself do notice a slight delay on playing it for the first time, but that would be loading in textures I gather but not sure. the shader and code all seem fine.

keep the feedback comming so we can get to the bottom of it.

Genetransfer, it's all ok, sorry for being the hassle, it was again winmount.
Winzip directly made it work fine when unpacked.

Very nice project indeed!!
It even played on Andro walking :)

Ingenious! What software did you use to convert the video to movie real images?
« Reply #14 on: January 06, 2010, 11:10:29 PM »
:) it's a little bit complicated to set up but once you get your pipeline set up it's a walk in the park, but I'll try to explain what I do.

if getting my clip from an avi or similar I use "Ulead Gif Animator 5" once you load it in the it alllows you to export you selected range as jpeg/bmp image sequence.

if the images are not square I use "VSO Image Resizer" allows you to batch convert/resize your images. really cool tool.

after I have all my images, in my 3D sofware (i use lightwave but I'm sure you can do it in any of them it just takes a while to set up your (what I call) movie plates.

to create a movie plate I just create a 1mx1m quad and uv it so that it will take up the whole area(like planar i guess).

then I go and copy and paste that 1mx1m quad to make, what would be a 3d version of the texture 8x8 (grid) sheet.

then I name each of the 1x1 quads that make up the 8x8 (grid)sheet different texture names but they all have the same uv's.

then I create a folder that contain 64 (black or default power of 2i.e. 256x256) images in the format of my choice(.jpg/.bmp doesn't matter as these images aren't used in engine).

after I do this I apply those texture in order (somename_001.jpeg,_002 etc...) from left to right, top to bottom on the 1x1 tiles that make up our 3d sheet.

once all thats done I set up camera in an orthogonal mode looking at the model. then I can just render the image and save it as a 2048x2048 or other size texture.

you only have to set up your movie plate once and from then on before you launch you model just put your next 64 images you want to capture in to the texture file of your model, just make sure their names match the names applied to the 3d quads.

it might be hard to explain what I mean but it's breeze after it's all set up, there will be bit of trial en error I guess, but this method ensures that there will be no film wobble, which is why I went this way to begin with, photo shop just was too tedious with this many images. anyway hope that helps a little, if not I guess I could start a offereing a conversion service but that up to every one if they can't get it all up and running by themselves.
