Author Topic: RadImp v0.9 - imports fast to 3d Rad (all dirtywork is done)  (Read 47186 times)

I don't know how you have done the installation, but you just need to unzip the file in your \3d Rad folder  and start radimp.exe

So check :

1. Is 3d Rad installed ?
2. RadImp_v0.9.zip unzipped into you 3d Rad folder and no subfolders of 3drad ?
3. Is 3Drad.exe and Radimp.exe in the same folder ?

I found a bug! Check this out http://www.3drad.com/forum/index.php?topic=5539.msg46664#msg46664. It's my post about the 3D things dissapearing, but worked out it was coming from this. But I still use it although!

Bug in radimp or the sketchup exporter?, and how to reproduce ?

It's from RadImp most likely- just try importing a dynamic rigidbody with a shadow mesh from the skechup exporter as the direct x file option from the menu.

direct .x option... hmmm that's definately not radimp. Can only be the sketchup exporter tool, which is not called radimp. :)

Um, it also occurs with other directx exporters so yes, it's gotta be a bug with RadImp.

Unless you give the complete workflow on how to reproduce, there's nothing to fix.  ???

Actually, if it happens with other software too, it's your fault, as the model is flawed ::)

OK I'll tell it here! In Sketchup 6 to 8.

1.) Make a simple 3d square box.

2.) Export the model as a generic direct x file with backfaces (or without). To do it, click Plugins > 3D Rad > Export as a generic DirectX file.

3.) Save the x. file (as any name, it doesen't matter) to the RadImp import folder.

4.) Once it's done exporting open RadImp 0.9.

5.) Click the x. file you just exported.

6.) DON'T tick the skip shadowmesh box (if it's ticked, untick it) and then click on 3drad import > Import Dynamic RigidBody.

7.) Save the file (as any name, it doesen't matter) that you can remember.

8.) Open 3D Rad v7.10 + and then load the RigidBody object.

9.) Open the file you just exported.

10) There you go, you don't see the RigidBody but instead you see black or the skybox if you've got one. Restart 3D Rad and don't use that element of the RigidBody.

I don't have that problem (and sketchup 7 is what I use for all my dynamic bodies)-so I don't see what you're doing wrong, but it's not radimp's fault  ???
EDIT: oh, one thing to mention: never export rigidbodies with backfaces, because they won't work

I made a racetrack in blender, and imported it as a rigidbody with radimp 0.9.
It works fine in 6.50, but 3dRad crashes when i try to load it in 7.03 ???

shadmar may be away on vacation, since he has not been active lately.
If you import the mesh as a static RB, it should make the coo file for you. I've not encountered an import problem with 7.03 yet.
Post your racetrack here, let's see if we can duplicate the import problem.

Uninstall the rigidbody using the option in the 3D Rad editor
Then re-install it with radimp. Load 3DRad 7.03 and not 6.50, and add the new RB in 7.03 first. That seems to make all the difference, I have no idea why.
