Well If you can't play It make it. That's my challenge I don't have the right tools like texture rapping roads and other things, otherwise I'd make that game!

Author Topic: Killer Arcade Racer in the works!! (Read 66556 times)
Hey guys, i abandoned the 3D rad version of the game, because i couldn't get the physics to behave the way i wanted (according to the visual style of the game)... The project is far from dead... in fact, now it has a completely different experience/gameplay.
Inspiration and unfinished projects: it is very hard to maintain the creative energy when you're working alone or in an indie team for free... the amount of work needed for materializing any element of a game far surpasses the end result. Same as energy sources and machines... there is no such thing as an efficient machine. To keep the levels of commitment you need an external input of energy, such as: money, fear (boss/deadline), fans and followers... all things not very common for indies.
the illusion of tools: the indie gamedev community is a big industry full of naive victims that are being fed bullshit by engine and tool developers, and tutorial websites alike, just to make money. For example, all the graphics in my demo are modeled and unwrapped with Silo, textures are made with photoshop... we are being fed lies that we need special tools to achieve professional looking games and as a result we learn to depend on the tools, and when we come up with a new idea the first thing we do is look for a tool to do it... instead of just doing it. And dont get me started on paid video tutorials.
Yes i am
Thanks guys

Yeah.. What I like to say is if you want something done right, you have to do it yourself. Paid video tutorials are rediculous when you've got youtube and google.
Good to see you back.
So, where is the game now? Different game engine or what?

FUN FACT:I was at least a month older than you, but nowadays you have 4x posts than me.
Weird. Anyway, I'm glad to see this project still going- it looks very 'seasoned'.
Hey clandestine, can u make this a download, the web version is too laggy on my laptop (running vista)Could you tell me how you got the words to move like that? Thanks!
There are a couple of early builds, but nothing i would call 'ready' for public consumption.
I miss 3D Rad... i had to drift away to another engine due to the target platforms for my clients.
But in all honesty my 3D Rad days were the happiest.
