I had to put this title to lure you in, sorry ;)
What you see below is not exactly a prototype, more like a study of 3D Rad... what i'm doing there is practice and learning, none of the art, designs, models, textures is going to be used in the final game. So far i'm beyond amazed with the engine, EVERYTHING works as advertised, no bullshit, its amazing!!!!! For the last 6 years i've spent part of my free time working with indie teams from all around, making models, textures and designs... but i've never been able to go so far on my own... part of the purpose of this demo is to show to my team what 3D Rad is capable of... and they're very happy with what they've seen so far.
Anyway, the images are from different stages of development, in relatively chronological order... everything is done by me, and brought to you by Fernando and 3D Rad!!!!

Enjoy!!!

and 3 youtube VIDEOS

i remind you that i have wife, son and a house to take care of... so for now my gamedev dreams occupy little time.

I still have A LOT of questions and some suggestions, but thats coming in future posts :)

YES simply amazing work.   Some of the best seen on 3drad.  but i have to ask,  why do people tease us with these projects that they say will never see a release????  Why God?  Why?!!!!   With this and work from guys like Hense and Mic,  we could be showing those torque users whats up...gang style :p

i think that my multiplayer stuff may work with this
I'm waiting for it... so I'll be using it for sure, unless Fernando beats you and releases a online multiplayer object.

I'm really planning on doing an arcade racer, I've had this dream since 1995.... my all time inspiration is: Daytona USA (arcade and Dreamcast), Outrun 2 (arcade, xbox), Rave Racer/Rage Racer (arcade, psx, psp), F-Zero GX (arcade, GameCube)... and to a certain point: Wipeout, SF Rush 2049, TXR2, Rollcage etc.

Why God?  Why?!!!!

actually for 2 reasons:
1. to give you guys something that I've made with lots of love and share this positive energy that will give you more desire to create amazing projects and
2. the same for me, I'm looking for positive feedback to give me the strength and desire to continue working and create something wonderful

i would better explain this by quoting Katsumi Yokota, one of the creators of what i believe to be the most amazing game ever released - REZ for the Dreamcast

Quote
Katsumi Yokota / art director & lead artist
I was able to reconfirm to myself that it is always a real hard job to create something for someone. It's almost a miracle when anything is actually finished. Creating something that everyone loves is so unbelievably difficult, that if you just look away for a moment, something slips away from you. Rejection never moves anything forward. Endless approval is what moves things forward. Approving is far more harder than denying something. It was an endless year and a half of getting lost and believing that we will find the correct road again and again. Shaping an abstract image into a worthily product. Finding the road together in the continent of possibilities, and reaching that goal together. There was lots of things that were not perfect but those things alone made my experience in creating Rez a priceless one.
To the people who chose to experience Rez. Thank you very much. If you are able to truly enjoy this game, that would make me really happy. Thanks to everyone!

Thanks a lot guys, we're in this together!!!!

Absolutely amazing and really shows that an ARTIST behind a tool like 3Drad can really create very commercial quality looking stuff !

very well done clandestine !

And If you don't mind , maybe this should be 3Drad demos/games slogan from now on !

" Got Rad ? " :D I like it !

btw

for the very old ppl here still lurking from 3Drad 3.x !

there used to be a similar game created by the late ( yes he died :( ) Daniel Young called
WRAITHS was built in 3Drad 3.5 I think or something like that and it look very cool backthen it even looked like something that wasnt made in 3Drad .

I've found the demo and uploading it as we speak and i will link you guys up  :)

Look into my eyes , Tell me what you see
You don't see a damn thing , 'cause you can't relate to me
You're blinded by our differences , My life makes no sense to you
I'm the persecuted one , You're the red, white and blue

About the speed of my demo, i'll be making it around twice as fast... i'm still studying the physics setup.

that is really awesome! that track is so long and it has great detail, along with the detailed buildings around it.
How did you make that track?

Currently using 7.22

since this is not something i own the rights to, and since it is not directly related to 3DRAD 6...  i'll only upload it if Fernando says it's ok... and then for only a few days since it was a free demo download for 3DRAD users way back when...

If Wraiths_2.zip is clearly a free product, I think we can publish it. Thanx Mike!

I see you are using crazy bump for the track surface. If I could make a suggestion, you might get more millage out of the look if you use a technique I use to create mechanical objects. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=66ulKGSkJVo Rather then a tin foil look.

thanks a lot for the suggestion mic, I'll study your tutorial (i don't use max though)... anyway, i didn't like the results of that normalmap either, thats why i decided to go with the less realistic, but a lot more 'arcade' look of the simple speed-lines

on the other hand, i discovered later that if i set shape recognition to 0 in crazybump i get much better results... but your method still looks better... I'll try to apply it in silo, lets see.

thanks again :)

hey... its pretty cool, i couldnt do one lap without constantly bumping the walls, but i can see the idea behind it and i like it (nothing to do with what i want to do though).
when was it done?
