Author Topic: COMMUNITY PROJECT - Need volunteers for community racing game!  (Read 438 times)

« on: May 31, 2014, 12:39:45 PM »
I'm thinking that we should make a community project!
My idea is to make a racing game with stock cars and open wheel cars. We can have ovals and road courses.

What we need is a good amount of people to help make assets and script the game.

If you are interested or have questions, post below!

Thanks guys!

At the moment I am busy with the Community space Multiplayer game...

Maybee... I'm in, but cars and tracks are not one of my best possibilities. So maybe I can help more with scripting. I can make models but don't expect them very complex.
But what exactly will be this game? You can explain more complicated so we could understand what we should do.

And also, is the game includes multiplayer?

(Until I don't reach 50 posts, my posts will be late (recently one day), I'm very sorry about that)

I'm approved, so my posts will come instantly!

I'll be happy to help.  I have lots of great car models and some great scripts for pausing and saving the game.
The hard part will be getting good text prints and sprites for the game.

open wheel cars too? interesting ...  ;)
I am curious, how you will keep the game coding cooperation... good luck guys :)

my 2c:
* you could use simple placeholder mesh first, to check if all is working properly
* no need to create any complex looking models or any huge object assest library. 3drad doesnt like this  :P
* if is it possible, try to keep the whole track and trackside objects at minimum object count (eg. all guardrail and trees will be one single mesh...)
* the final design should be same gfx level :)

Don't worry! For sprites and text prints - I'm online!!! :D
The sprites are one of my strengths, I have some "non-default" text print fonts, so don't worry! The best is that you have great car models. This is my weakness because I use sketchup and I don't achieve the best quality. I can help with sprite effects like countdown, map localization, nitrous progressbar (for example). If there is no one who can make savegame database and script - I'm here! Just post!

Great inspiration!!! And I agree that this can be done in 3D RAD. Good graphical model, Lightmap with Giles, UserShaders, Fog, Skybox...
