I always wanted to try create with 3drad something about the dark world war one age.
a fog or rain, the no-man land,  smokes... distress eveywhere. you know.

the idea was just a plane with bombs vs few slowly moving tanks. you need to stop them all until they will reach some loaction. if the player fail, game is over. thats all.

now I am relaxing from my simracing projects a bit, so I started two days back with 3drad again.

if you release the bomb, the "bomb cam" window appears and keep the object until impact event and few seconds after yet.
if you miss the target and you just hit the ground, small explosion appears and a crater still be there.

nothing special so far, but it works.

I like to "plant" the ground with craters (its a flat skinmesh paint).

to replace the project placeholders I did a plane (not finished and/or textured yet). I started the tank creation also.

if I will continue, I will put some news there.

note: the object textures arent painted properly yet. it is just a 5 minutes work with Inkscape, so far.

ok, a new cam version, new landscape (based on real ww1 photos) and a bit changed tank visual damage.

Oh oh oh love this type of game.. since many years ago playing one of these old plane style shoot'm ups it was so much fun.

I tried for a long time to find this game again but failed.

Never tried to do it in 3drad, but rethinking this i thing 3drad is the perfect engine for this due to the slower game style.

Add a radar or indicator to locate enemy fighters, a scoring system, and make it networked, maybe unlimited shells.

Add time limited power ups like maybe a speed boost or firing speed boost, longer range radar something like that

I'm in love .. :P

Landscape looks great, makes it very bleak and atmospheric.
I agree with the radar thing (or a spotter with binoculars who points) but think the bombs should be limited, it adds to the tension

so... in other words... if i'm hearing what the comments above are saying...

oh, thanks guys for tips / comments  ;)

I will try answer few things:

multiplayer
to make the project more playable would be really great to make it as multiplayer (the player could select to drive the tank or flight the plane) - I guess.
but I am very skeptic in any MP 3drad gameplay. Ive created and tested a more then year ago just two default 3drad Car objects at default 3drad terrain and it was a tragedy - a brutal game lag for the host player. so Ive turned back to single player only projects  8)

if someody have interest, I found the my old attempts there (I dont remember the difference, just try out):

radar / target map
yep, it could be :) well, maybe then it will be too easy... I did it (so far) the way you have only the compass value - the "seek and destroy" like misson briefing will tell you: "the enemy are coming from north" and the rest is up top you :) a real like ww1 mode, hehe  ;D

unlimited ammo, score etc.
unfortunately every bomb or target impact event causes very big fps slowdown at the actual project. with unlimited bombs and / or respawning targets the problem could be much whorse, I suppose. and, I dunno how to get this all working yet, infact  ;D
I would like to keep the actual idea - as it is now.
now the player have just 4 bombs vs 3 tanks. it could be made many ways to make the gameplay harder (less ammo, smaller rigidbody, speedy targets...).

I am tweaking the actual project when free time and lust, and when /if done, I will add some menu at least and give it public to test it. in a future I could add some new missions / mission goals (to destroy a bridge, a train, a zeppelin or just the known observation baloons). will see.

ok, now you can switch on/off the target labels.
the images also shows the "line" which you need to keep from the enemy.
